About Dension

Dension Audio Systems are one of the world's leading manufacturers of connected car entertainment systems. Like you, we want to be able to access our music and video files wherever we go. We also want an easy to operate, 'invisible' solution that uses our car's original equipment.

We've made it our personal mission to enable you to take virtually any electronic device - from a simple, 2G USB pen drive to a 32GB iPod Touch - and integrate it into your car's existing entertainment system without making any changes to your dashboard. We offer a simple solution for almost any vehicle or radio.

With our growing range of accessories, you can also extend the capabilities of your system as far as your imagination will take you... and yes, we like a challenge! We also love music, so whatever you listen to and whatever it's on, Dension will make sure you can see and hear it with the highest possible sound quality and data transmission.

Company history

Dension Audio Systems Ltd. was founded in Budapest in 2001 by the Lukacs brothers. Their aim was to fulfil a personal vision of a fully-integrated car entertainment system where digital music collections, freed from the confines of the home PC, could travel with you wherever you went. As they put it; they wanted to 'let the music be with you'.

Their intial cutting-edge projects focused on HDD based stand-alone MP3 players (DMP3A series) for car use and car tuners incorporating removable HDD MP3 player (DH100 & DMP3C) but in 2003 their strategy changed. Inspired by the growing popularity of Apple's iPod, they began to work on iPod interfaces for cars, allowing iPod users to connect them directly to their car radios and access the MP3s stored on them whilst driving.

The breakthrough came with the Ice>Link Plus. Compatible with the majority of major car manufacturers including BMW, VW, Audi, Fiat, Seat, Skoda, Honda and Renault, it fulfilled the Lukacs' initial vision of integration and introduced Dension Audio Systems to the world market. As the popularity of Dension's products grew, the number of compatible vehicles would increase rapidly, as would the options for connectivity.

Today, Dension products come equipped with multiple inputs and outputs (including USB) and are compatible with the majority of audio file formats. Our engineers have now turned their hand to Bluetooth and Video, introducing Gateway 500 accessories (BTA 1500 and AVR) which, where compatible, will allow users to access their cell/mobile phone's phonebook onscreen, make handsfree calls, watch iPod video, DVD and more, all in their car and all without changing their car's original equipment.
