Norbert Michelisz, winner of the 2010 FIA WTCC Rookie Challenge and Race of Macau will line up on the grid with a BMW 320 TC in partnership with BMW Hungary. Zengő Dension Team are planning to begin the season at the first European round in Zolder.

Zengő Dension Team have acquired one of the former works BMW 320si racecars and entered Norbert Michelisz to the 2011 FIA WTCC. The car will be upgraded with the new 1.6 turbo engine which means that Michelisz will have the opportunity to line up on the grid with a BMW 320 TC. This is going to be the first season when the Hungarian driver will race a rear-wheel drive car but he said he expects to be a competitive force.

“I will need to adjust my mind and driving style for the rear-wheel drive but I can’t wait to race again. We have a lot work to do in order to get to know the car, but I’m confident that we will be able to make a big step forward especially in case we will be testing the car ahead the first race. If the circumstances allow me, I will try to take on the frontrunners. Hopefully I will bring happiness for my fans”, stated Michelisz.

Team Principal Zoltán Zengő added that the arrival of the BMW 320 TC is a huge step and challenge for Zengő Dension Team that he would like to see challenging for good results in 2011.

“In total only six or seven cars of this model will be ready for the start of the season and it is a huge success that such a small Hungarian team will have one of them. We made an enormous step towards realizing our ultimate aims. We have got a competitive car and I expect my team to be among the frontrunners.”

Michelisz’s BMW 320 TC will be prepared by multiple world champion FIA WTCC entry Team RBM. The Belgian outfit has managed BMW’s works race cars since the FIA WTCC was established and they will contribute with technical support before they hand over the car to Zengő Dension Team.

This also means that Zengő Dension Team decided against the participation on the season opener in Curitiba but preparations are ongoing to get ready for Round 2 in Zolder on the 24th of April.
