Viva Las Vegas
The 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas was once again the world’s meeting place for the newest and most exciting technologies in home and car electronics and Dension was delighted to be there talking to a record 130,000 visitors. Located in the iLounge, the biggest dedicated area of the show, we were exhibiting both established and new product lines. Our classic Gateway range has been seen at CES before, but the smooth integration of iPod and USB music into the car’s original radio still had a “Wow!” factor for newcomers to Dension. For old friends, the addition of the seamless integration of phone functionality in the Gateway Five prompted the same question many times, “Which one fits my car?”
In 2010, the question that kept coming up was “What do you have for my iPhone?” We heard it loud and clear and set our developers the challenge of providing a good answer for this year’s show. The result was the Car Dock for iPhone which was undoubtedly one of the stars of the iLounge, and maybe the whole show. The Car Dock for iPhone custom designed cradle, combined with an app which can be downloaded from iTunes, lets the iPhone user make the absolute best of their iPhone while in the car. It’s a custom designed cradle that will fit and work in any car, plays your music through the car radio (well of course it does, it’s a Dension!), it gives you hands free phone calls, makes Google maps a piece a of cake to use, can give you access to internet radio and it has a menu system that is spectacularly easy to use.
We like to let the product guys have a bit of fun as well though (in their lunch hour ), and they produced a really cool interface so that they could play with a radio controlled car using the iPhone, and it wasn’t long before there was a webcam attached. The iPhone controlled forklift truck was a particular hit with the stand builders!
And this year’s big questions? Well Car Dock for iPhone had lots of people asking about iPad integration and holders, and of course, even in the iLounge, the ‘A’ word kept coming up (as in A for Android). We heard you and we’ll be back next year, but in the meantime, keep checking out Dension website to see how we go about answering those questions. For now though, a tired, but happy Dension Vegas crew bid farewell to the strip for another year with thanks and best wishes to everyone who visited us.
