My car is not in the database, can I still fit a Dension product?

There is text while listening to the USB but no text in iPod source. Why?
In iPod UI mode the communication between the iPod and Gateway is limited therefore id3 tags cannot be displayed on the screen. If the Head Unit is text capable “iPod UI” text will be visible on the screen. You have text only if iPod GW or USB source is selected.
What are the differences between CAN and Non-CAN products?
- Newer vehicles that have integrated displays that show radio information use a system called CAN (CONTROL AREA NETWORK). This enables data to be sent from one control module to another only using a 2 wire network. On the audio CAN system the steering wheel controls, the head unit and the cluster display are all connected. On our Can-Bus Dension GW100 and 300 devices we communicate information on the BUS to be able to control the iPod or USB via the steering controls and put text on the displays. The audio is usually connected through the AUX input on the head unit.
- On the Dension Non-CAN products we use a protocol called the CD BUS. Using this we can emulate the original CD changer and we can fool the head unit into thinking that the CD Changer is connected. Using various CD commands you can control the iPod or USB. The audio is connected via the CD-BUS audio input and we can charge the iPod using the original power for the CD Changer. Text is sometimes available on this system if the original CD changer is capable of showing MP3 information. This will show on the head unit.
