Integrate your iPod, USB, and telephone with one device
- Play music from iPod/iPhone and USB devices through the car radio, using the car radio controls to browse and select items from your device.
- Display track information on the screen, or information display, in your car
- Make and receive phone calls, hands free, or stream music from your phone via Bluetooth
- See phonebook information on your displays in the car and browse using the radio or steering wheel controls
- Charge your iPod/iPhone while driving
Gateway Five is designed to integrate the devices you need into the existing controls and displays in your car, with maximum functionality and minimum fuss. There are no extra boxes to stick on the dashboard, or unsightly cables trailing around the vehicle. The interior of your car looks exactly like it did the day you bought it, it just does a lot more.
There are certain things your car may need to be able to work with Gateway Five (for full details, click on your car make), but there are models to work with Volkswagen, Peugeot, Citroen, Audi and BMW , with more to come.
How it works
Control at your fingertips
Gateway Five works like an interpreter between your devices and the car, converting instructions from the car’s controls into a language that your phone or iPod can understand and respond to. When connected into the car, Gateway Five emulates a CD changer (usually, sometimes it’s an auxiliary input), thus making those controls on the radio available to control the devices connected to it. Of course, every Gateway Five comes with a comprehensive user manual, but in most cases, you select the CD changer function, then CD6, and a series of menus are opened up to you to control your devices. The FFWD key and/or steering wheel controls are then all you need to navigate around your devices.
Gateway Five will also send all this information to the display in your car, which might be in the radio, between the dials (speed and revs), or in the centre consul, so you can always see exactly where you are, what’s playing, or who’s calling you.
Pairing your phone is done from the phone itself. Just search for new devices in your Bluetooth menu, select Dension Gateway and enter the PIN (0000). You’re ready to go.

Car information and entertainment systems can be complex networks, so Dension always recommends that you have your installation carried out by a qualified installer. To find a selection of suppliers and installers in your country/area, please click here.
The installation will vary slightly in different cars, but in each case, you will have either a cradle, or a dock cable to connect your iPod to. Your installer will ask and advise as to the best place to situate this in your vehicle. The Gateway itself is less than the size of a CD case and will be installed securely out of sight behind the dash. The only evidence of the unit will be the microphone for your hands free telephone calls. Dension products are all designed so that there is no need to cut cables.

Dension is creating solutions to connnect your iPod, USB mobil storage and any MP3 players to your original car stereo. You can also control your music device from your steering wheel and car head unit, and see your iPod and USB menu on your cars display.
